Whether you are a Student or Traveler booking a long term rental contract for your stay in Florence you might wonder how can you break the lease if for any reason you need to shorten your stay or simply need to take a different path for your stay in Florence.
In order to break a lease make sure you do:
- Have a regular contract lease in your hands so checking in to a property without a lease is a hint of possible issues with the Property Owner or Rental Agency, make sure you do have a rental contract signed by both parties!
- Make sure in the rental contract there is a sign off clause that will let you, within 30 – 60 or 90 days or more sign off the lease.
What is actually a Sign Off Clause?
A Sign Off Clause is an article in your Tourist Rental Contract that will state that you are entitled to sign off the rental contract of one year for example after only 4 months by sending via “Lettera Raccomandata con avviso di ritorno” also known for short as R/ar that you can send at the Post Office that officially states why and how you want to break the lease.
There is always a specified time from a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 6 months, depending on the length of the contrac,t within you can officially notify the landlord of your decision to break the lease. It’s important to remember that within this time frame you are still obliged to pay the rent weather you do stay or you do not stay in the property.
For short term rental contract such as 6 – 12 months the notice should not exceed the 2 or 3 months.
