Students, workers or travelers staying for more than a month, must consider purchasing season tickets. For students there are deducted prices for travel which covers train, tram and bus transport.Of course you must have your student ID along to prove it.

Speaking of the bus and tram transport, a normal charge for a monthly season ticket is 35 Euros while for students it is 23 and yearly tickets are for 310 and 185 respectively. Family season tickets are available as well with reductions up to  232 Euros for the yearly pass. There are some facilities available for the working class too. Those receiving an income below 10,000 per year can purchase yearly tickets for 150 Euros! There are even weekly passes available so while purchasing the tickets do inform yourselves for the prices. Buy such passes only if you are sure of using the transport at a daily basis or else it might not be convenient for you. In that case, purchase the simple tickets that cost 1 Euro and 20 cents. The tabacchis and newspaper stalls provide tickets other than the Ataf office right outside the station. Buying a ticket on board will cost you more (2 Euros) so only do it in case of an emergency.  For the seasonal tickets go directly to the office or on-line in the ATAF website. It is the English version but at times some sections are not yet translated.

As for the train passes you can get all the information from the ticket office. If you travel every day or every alternative day by train, then it is convenient to obtain monthly passes. Of course the prices differ from region to region. Beware that monthly passes are ALWAYS valid from the first day of the month and terminates on the last of the month. So if the month is already halfway through, then you must wait for the next one. Here is the website for the info on the train transport.

Please note: you must always stamp your ticket. The ticket is not valid if you do not stamp it! The buses have the stamping machine within the vehicle while for the trains, there are yellow machines on the beginning of every platform.
