Indian curries!
Being in Italy does not mean that you cannot find the famous curry meals of India! I have taken it personal in this occasion to try out all the Indian restaurants in Florence. Out of all the 4 restaurants I have been to I would put Haveli on top spot any day. The meals are a bit expensive and the portions not so big as one finds in India but its worth to go and have some Indian food now and then.
Haveli: Very tidy and beautifuly decorated. The staff are extremely kind and have a touch for what they do. The food is absolutely delicious!
Ashoka: The area is a little more away from the center. Here the place seems like a palace the way all the cutlery and decorations are put. The cuisine is a little different because they have adjusted to the Italian taste. In other words less spicy and less masala. The prices are more or less the same
Maharaja: This was the first Indian restaurant to be opened. Since its opening it has lost a bit of its name. It still is quite up to a good level. You must go visit them when you go for a trip to Fiesole!
Salaam Bombay: Out of the 4 this is one of the restaurants I appreciated less. Nothing great in the cooking and maybe because Haveli is right next door, making me compare it to there level.
Apart from restaurants many kebab stores have come up with the idea of extending their positions and have started a sort of fast food joint. The response has come quite well since many do go to try the meals there since they are way cheaper than the restaurants and yet make you enjoy a good meal.
Taj mahal, Doner Kebab in Via panicale and DOner in VIale Guidoni.
