Waiting for Autumn

An event dedicated to agriculture, environment and nutrition that will take place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of November 2011. Hosting the event, now in its eleventh edition, will be the historic center of FiglineValdarno. Figline is a town on the slopes of Chianti, located
in the heart of a valley equidistant from Florence, Arezzo and Siena. What an opportunity to take a visit to a few of the most interesting places inTuscany!

The event embraces the world of agriculture, environment and nutrition in various areas of the town and in different ways. In the square of Marsilio Ficino food stands will be setup focused on local brands and products typical of the lands of Tuscany such as the Valdarno chicken, beans, oil and wine. In the Lorenzo Bonesci Square there will be a presentation of the local livestock breeds like veal, lamb, pork and poultry raised only from within the territory.

In the Piazza IV Novembre and Via XXIV Maggio will instead be set up with exhibition spaces reserved for all agencies, bodies and institutions working on environment around the world in several respects, particularly with an attention to the involvement of children through the activities promoted by the Fire Department, the Forest Service and the City of Figline Valdarno.The Morelli Gardens parameter will use its vast green space and surrounging for creating a play area with a nature trail, some lovely exhibitions of the dogs of the Civil Defence and even an encampment of Indians.  

Autumn also brings in mind the need for planning issues, issues of agriculture, environment and nutrition. There will be a series of conferences organized in the historical Garibaldi Theatre at the Pretorio Palace and important issues will be discussed such as the pyramidal food chain and the short chain, planning and governing the territory, the Civil Defense, the training of students on the
topic of nutrition. Autumn arises the objective to offer three days of good taste, but also moments of reflection and inspiration for value to those people who, for various reasons, are engaged daily in the care of the land and the environment.

Figline is just about 30 minutes from Florence. Just follow this route. If you are coming from Rome it will
take you roughly 2 and a half hours of journey, opt for this route.
