Is there anything better than accepting the best that mother nature can offer at this time of the year? With the sun trying to fry us alive, all the solutions point towards the sea side. Florence offers some VERY INTERESTING beach trips.
Generally in Italy, the more one travels south the better the beaches are, but there are always exceptions. On my list of beaches, the Cinque Terra is definitely one swell of a place.
A perfect 1 day trip from Florence to discover these 5 beautiful towns. The significance of Cinque Terra is, the five lands. They are located in Liguria, north of Spezia. These Ligurian coastal towns stand on the final landscapes before getting gulped into the sea. Monterosso al mare, Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Corniglia and Manarola are the 5 towns from where the name Cinque terra derives. Every town has their particularities. There are 2 ways to explore the towns, by train and on foot. Read the rest of this entry »

500 tour(see the video) is a great option for those willing to see Florence in style! The 500 commonly known as Cinquecento, is one of the icons that represent the Italian style back to the 1960′s. These little cute wagons fit perfectly with the roads to be taken into the countryside.
There are several options how one can plan a 500 trip:
- Wine-Olive oil tasting: A 3 to 4 hour trip to visit the vineyards in the outskirts of Florence. A well organized tour by the 500 tour crew takes you up to the Old Renaissance Villas where one can get to witness how the Tuscan wines are produced.
- Tour of Florence: A 2 hour visit along with a guide that will lead you from the city sites up to the closer towns above Florence to see the scenic view of the typical Tuscan countryside and not forgetting the Michelangelo Square where one can get to see the sun setting behind Ponte Vecchio!
- Weddings and other celebrations: Completely arranged by the staff that can take you to a venue of your choice along with a special gastronomic experience or completely ready to hear personal proposals.
There is a collection of Cinquecento to choose from. Each of them has a name, an identity and their special characteristics. For all the prices and other offers please visit the 500 touring club website. The staff awaits you at Via Vinegia 23r

Something was missing in the streets of Florence that could challenge the presence of the night, that could resolve the problems of the night riders. Is there such a place that makes the night rock to life?
Yes! The Central Park, is the most happening joint in Florence, located near the Stazione Leopolda, easily reachable by by bus, tram and 20 minutes by foot from the SMN station. The disc contains a beauty of 5 dance floors, 7 American bars, restaurant and Dj’s of international fame, playing the best of Hip-hop, Commercial and House music non-stop.
2 of the dance floors lay in the exterior section of the disc in the open garden. Central Park remains open throughout the summer and on special occasions like New Year! Via de Fosso Macinante, close to the Cascine Gardens, Central, welcomes everyone, no space problems whatsoever. Every night is dedicated to different themes to fit everyones taste. Wednesday night is glamour night and the dance floors will be rocking with the best house you have can imagine. Free entry for the ladies of course, until midnight.
The Yab(see pic on top), a small but fabulous disc just 2 minutes from the Piazza Repubblica is another jolly in the pack. My suggestions are to check this place out on Mondays and Wednesdays!
Space is a decent disc frequented mostly by Americans. If that’s what you are looking for its the joint for you, about a 5 minute walk from the SMN station.
Apart from discs Florence is full of wine bars and pubs that can get jammin pretty well. Angels, La Loggia del Grano, Dolce Vita, Chioschino Lungarno, Old Stove and Slowly are few top spots to check out during your stay.

The summer wakes up the hibernators! Amongst the unobserved lot, out springs the Open-air Cinemas. Whenever you are in a mood to watch a movie, hit the accelerator and drive down to the closest one around.
My experience in an open-air arena was like being in an ambience with a mix of a home theatre and relaxing in a huge green park. With all the sweets, popcorns and drinks to spoil you, there is that nature touch which comes into the picture that feels so unique. That’s not it! Nightfall accompanied with a pleasant temperature, the stars looking down upon you while the movie hits the screen is something that other cinemas big or small , can’t give you. The 24th of June is celebrates the anniversary of the birth of San Giovanni Battista, commonly known as John the Baptist. Christians have long interpreted the life of John the Baptist as a preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ. According to Saint Luke, John was related to Jesus Christ since his mother, Elizabeth was Mother Mary’s cousin. Not going too far in detail, according to the Hebrew Gospel, John baptized Jesus and is known to be as his precursor.
Florence greets this day with a variety of events. Candle offerings followed by a formal celebration dedicated to John the Baptist in the Cathedral, procession and finals of the “Calcio Storico Fiorentino” at Santa Croce (see article on “Travel to Florence: 10 reasons why“) and a final sprint of the day rich with fireworks & music.
Last year there was a possibility to organize a picnic and watch the fireworks on the banks of the Arno river. Included in the offer was a basket of items to eat and drink as well as a sheet to spread on the ground for a total of 15euros. A lovely idea that as last year, will be followed by number of people. The baskets are limited and as you know. ” The early bird catches the worm”
Since I am not sure of whether the picnic packet will be organized this year, ill just post you the page where one can contact the staff directly.
The Fireworks will last for about an hour and will take place at Piazzale Michelangelo. Do inform yourselves for the traffic circulation since due to this event roads will be blocked in this area. On the eve of the fireworks, Piazza Signoria and Ponte Vecchio will be a pleasant spot to be since many musicians will be present in the square. The music is more than just okay and the river Arno is a few meters away, perfect for viewing the never ending fireworks accompanying you deep into the night.
Special thanks for pic
