It is always great to learn new recipes especially from different cultures. Well anyone is mad about the Indian cuisine. So why not plan a day or two of cooking lessons? It is very simple, there is one place just perfect for a nice get together with friends and learn some top quality dishes..the Indian style :)

The 3 hour lesson guided with the Chef and a very helpful and generous Manager. Along with his wife the Restaurant is run very well. Well organized, lots of space for the customers, very welcoming and delicious food.

So, at the end of the lessons, after a delightful touch of masalas and curries you have the opportunity to eat everything you have prepared! So if you follow the chef’s advise I am sure you will have a delicious meal waiting for you!

Sales are here!

Hello everyone! The 6th of January has passed. It was the day of the Befana and the saying in Italy is that the Befana (also known as Epiphany) takes all the holidays away. So on one hand it is a little sad that the working days are back. Florence though, to console everyone has a jolly up its sleeve…The sales begin! And that means many more happy faces :)

Normally most shops put up sales from the 5th as well, but never bother to ask if the offers are on before the Sales board is put up! The sales period will go on up to the 5th of March. So take your wallets with you and go straight into the center, there is a lot of choices around :)

Or incase you want to be in a very concentrated area with yet a lot of options, then go to the Mall or I Gigli. Both are accessible by car or else their is a bus that takes you there as well.

For Gigli: Take the number 30 or 35 from SMN station.

For The Mall: Take the Sita bus from the SMN station for details and timings tclick here.

Saschall Theatre

The Saschall is one of the famous theatres in Florence used for events. One can watch concerts of all types. Apart from the main events my advice is to have an experience and watch the local bands perform. There are both groups well known in Italy as well as known more in the region.

I will leave you a link of the calendar of 2012 to choose from here. On the 20th of January there is the Bandabardò.A very special event to take part in since this band is from Florence. They play folk and their songs speak of music. The show begins at 21:00 and the tickets cost 12€.

Since November the famous Saschall theatre has changed its name to Obihall. Obi the new partners are a German company leaders in Europe for home improvement material and products for gardening.

How to get there:

By car: Coming from outside Florence take the exit from A1 called Firenze Sud. After the toll go straight just following the road. After the bridge over the Arno Varlungo at the traffic lights turn left. After 300 meters there is the Theatre on the left, in front of the RAI headquarters. The area has a large parking space.

Novoli

Novoli is located on the northwest half of Florence. It comes before arriving to the Amerigo Vespucci airport. There is a part of the University of Florence present here that holds the whole department of Law, Political Science and Economics. Recently the area has been enriched with well-built residential areas, a huge park as well as a massive shopping mall with 5 cinema theatres as well.

If anyone stops by I suggest to got to eat at Senza Nome. Fabulous food! The owners are south Italian and thus have some typical Calabrian recipes. Their Tiramisù and Cheese cakes are fantastic as well! If you are looking for a quick panino(sandwich), then try out La N’ticchia. The owner is very kind and funny. He has all the top quality Prosciutto, Salame, Cheese..you name it he has it. Then he always has a stock of typical products from the south as well. With just 2 euros and 50 cents you will have a big and well stuffed panino that you have never been so satisfied with until then.

For evening bars and aperitifs I would certainly suggest Strizzi and Caffe de Pari’

Jazz Session

Jazz lovers! Welcome to the streets of Florence :)

There are a few places for some fun jazz sessions. The most frequented in Florence is the Jazz Club, 3 minutes walk from the Duomo in Via nuova de Caccini 3. There is live music throughout and the groups have always been entertaining.

Another option is the Golden Bar, located right near the Ponte Vecchio bridge. A great atmosphere with a lovely view. They have nice apperitifs in the evenings followed with jazz music. Very classy for a romantic dinner as well!

Visit the Jazzclub website for daily updates or call 055 2479700. cheers!

Madonna in Florence

Madonna, the lady of Pop has joint the big names to perform in Florence as well! Seems like the fans here are going to go mad and the so is the city! The organizers are planning out in advance to avoid blockage of traffic and most certainly of where the concert will be held. The dates are still to be organized as well since Radiohead performs on the 1st and Bruce Springsteen on the 10th! Although in most cases it should be the 12th, 13 or the 15th. Rumors presume there is a chance the performance will be in Fiorentina’s  Artemio Franchi stadium.

The sexy musical icon will be performing in Milan on the 14th and then continuing her world tour. She always has that lovely smile of hers and that unlimited energy everywhere she goes. The charm of Florence has struck her as well :) Get ready coz as the date will be decided I will update it and don’t be surprised if everything will be sold out in a week!
